Making Change: The Golden Age of Postcards in Albuquerque (Part 1): The Big Events
Event box
Join Nancy Tucker to learn about Albuquerque's postcard publishers. From 1900 to 1920, Albuquerque hosted at least 19 companies which published postcards of local views. And there were plenty of events to be covered: The National Irrigation Congress in 1908, merchant “Trade Excursions” in 1908 and 1909, and “New Mexico Post Card Day” in 1911. We’ll also talk about Albuquerque’s Milton E. Porter, one of the city’s all-time best photographers you’ve never heard of; the scandal at Fites and Lyon; the Booster Press, and more.
