Bring your child by the International District Library and write a letter to Santa! Stop by and drop your child's letter in the box and they will receive a letter back from Santa! Postage will not be needed but please make sure your address is printed clearly and legibly to receive a letter back.

Need help developing your tech skills? We can assist! Sign up for a one-on-one session with library staff. Appointments can focus on working with Microsoft Word, creating and using an email account, using library resources including eBooks and eAudiobooks, and learning beginning computer skills. In addition, job focused computer support is available: writing a resume, cover letter, or submitting a job application. Must have a library card in good standing. If using a personal device, patron must have all applicable passwords and PINs.

Your child can read to registered therapy dogs in a relaxed atmosphere. The dogs sit calmly and quietly for a story while children practice reading out loud without fear of judgment. It's a great way for children to gain confidence in their reading. Registered dogs are provided by Delta Society Pet Program, Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers, Therapy Dogs, Inc.

Please call us at 505-888-8100 to confirm after 12:00pm on the day of the program. Dogs, like children, sometimes have health conditions that may prevent them from being available. Thank you for your understanding.

Bring your own supplies (paints, paper, canvas). We'll always have brushes and paper paint palettes for your use. We'll also have fun prompts and ideas to share, or you're welcome to paint what you'd like. Registration required due to limited space, limited to 20. 

Due to the nature of the material, we advise against the use of oil paint at the library. Any fast drying paint like watercolor, gouache, and acrylic are great! Other materials like oil pastels, chalks, pencils are also acceptable "painting" materials!
