Khadijah VanBrakle is the author of a Contemporary Young Adult novel set in Albuquerque which was released in June 2023 by Holiday House. It follows Fatima, a high school senior who dreams of becoming a pastry chef. Unfortunately her parents have other plans for her future. Fatima Tate Takes the Cake is a powerful coming-of-age story that gives a much-needed voice to young Black American Muslim women. In January 2024, it was nominated for a 2024 NAACP Image Award in the Youth/Teens Literature category.

Khadijah will share her experience in querying, working with a literary agent, and signing a two-book deal. Books will be available for purchase for $20 by cash or CashApp. Registration required.
