A citified desk clerk (Jack Lemmon) in a frontier hotel harbors romantic notions of the West, and prevails upon a hard-living, hard-drinking trail boss (Glenn Ford) to take him along on the next cattle drive. In the months that follow, the clerk's idealized notions of the West are cruelly dispelled. Filmed in part at Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch, Santa Fe, and San Ildefonso Pueblo. Cowboy has a runtime of 1 hour 32 minutes and is rated approved.
