History of the Albuquerque Rail Yards

Event box

In-Person

Photo of Albuquerque Rail Yards men who were machinists and boilermakers sitting on top of a locomotive. They worked in the shops of the Albuquerque railroad during the 1920s through the 1960s. Learn more from Chuck Jones about how the railroad came to Albuquerque in 1880. Explore the rail yard's uses, decline, and present day resurrection. Chuck has been a lifelong railroad fan. He has lived in Albuquerque over 40 years and been a volunteer at the Wheels Museum since 2002 restoring and running model train exhibits.

Check out the Wheels Museum's special exhibit in the Cherry Hills display case during the month of October.
