This opera brings to life three of Aesop’s most beloved and well known fables: The Ants and the Grasshopper, The Lion and the Mouse, and The Tortoise and the Hare. The lazy grasshopper, proud lion, and arrogant hare learn that it is better to prepare, small friends may prove to be great friends, and slow and steady wins the race. Three performers portray 12 different characters throughout the show. Lively music by Sir Arthur Sullivan, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Giuseppe Verdi, clever lyrics, and steampunk inspired costumes, combine to make these moral tales enchanting to children and adults. This program is funded by the Friends for the Public Library.
