The Handmaid’s Tale (R) - rendered 99 per cent of the women in the U.S. infertile. The country is ruled by a fundamentalist Christian dictatorship, which has sequestered all fertile women to serve as breeders for sufficiently wealthy families. Offred is forced to become a handmaid for the cold Serena and her cruel husband, the commander. She is in love with the commander's chauffeur Nick and must find a way to bear a child before she is shipped off to the wastelands.
