Fall Prevention - One Step at a Time
Event box
A serious injury from a fall can limit mobility and independent living. Every year, more than 1 in 4 adults fall, causing a serious health threat to adults 65 and older. Many older adults who fall develop a fear of falling and may become more sendentary, further increasing their risk of a secondary fall. Most falls are preventable and not a normal part of aging. Steps we can take to prevent falls will be presented; and several evidence based fall prevention programs that are endorsed by the Center for Disease Control, the National Council on Aging, and the Arthritis Association will be discussed.
