Special Event

The City Nature Challenge is a four-day event (April 26-29) where people are encouraged to get outside, observe nature, and post their observations using a citizen science app called iNaturalist.

Albuquerque needs your help in the 2019 City Nature Challenge! Cities around the world will be competing to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people. From April 26-29, 2019, you can participate in an event or make individual observations and add them to the project.

We are hosting iNaturalist training sessions for the public at library branches around the city, kicking off at South Valley! Join us, and start practicing with iNaturalist for the big event!

Saturday, April 6th, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
