Rebellion! Insurrection! Chaos! Partisanship! Autocracy! These terms are daily descriptors of the present-day administration found in our contemporary media. They had been associated historical in the portrayal in the formation of the United States of America. However, nearly a century before this historic event, in what will eventually become the State of New Mexico, the quest for autonomous recognition as a civil Indigenous agrarian society took root among the predecessors of today's NM Pueblo communities in the form of what is now referred to as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, under the leadership of a Po 'Pay from the community of Ohkay Owingeh. Few US citizens are knowledgeable of this monumental historic event which remains the the core of Pueblo cultures, histories, and languages. This presentation by Jon Ghahate is a contribution to a void in US History.
