Seven years ago, Bernalillo County and the Public Library renamed the North Valley Library after local Chicano literature icon Rudolfo Anaya. Join us and the Los Rancho Historical Society in celebrating our namesake with a talk on the life of the author, Rudolfo Anaya, an Anaya Storytime for children of all ages and Cake!

Rudolpho Anaya was an award-winning New Mexico writer who created over forty-four works in different genres, including novels, non-fiction, poetry, plays, and children’s books. Considered the father of Chicano/a, literature, his writing is set in New Mexico and reveals his love of the land, the people, and their stories. In fusing oral history, myth, magical realism, and the day-to-day life of surviving the llano and the barrio, Anaya creates legendary stories set in this place we call home, New Mexico. Anaya’s writing dives deep into his character’s minds and that of the collective consciousness where freedom and justice are possible.  His beautiful work touches the heart and spirit and  continues to inspire readers across the globe. Join us for “In the End We Are All Just Stories”: The Magic of New Mexican Writer Rudolpho Anaya.

Presenters: Cindy Sylvester, Sylvia Spence, Lori Duboise, and Gordene MacKenzie.
